<image:caption>Educating Children The construction of an additional block of classrooms for next year is in progress. The children are taking official Ugandan child development exams. Many children’s story books in English are on their way and are expected to arrive in Adjumani this fall. Inflation in Uganda is driving up the cost of education, but for now we are able to educate and feed a student two meals for $1 USD per day.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Empowering Women These women are dedicated, learning quickly together and thriving in using their new business skills. Their basic skills for tailoring, hair styling, beading, and sewing are enhanced with new knowledge of savings and investing. With the ability to make money, they are using their newly-found profits to invest in friends and family members. Combining these skills with Bible studies is building a solid foundation for flourishing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Equipping Leaders It seems that trauma has affected everyone in Adjumani. The suffering of refugees, the fighting between tribes, and even those that work with or teach those children that have experienced trauma. Lives continue to be dramatically improved by taking the time to teach leaders what forgiveness means, what respect means, and even what love means. Hate and fear are melting away toward peace and toward an attitude of serving others. Teachers that have gone through this training as observers, found the training to be invaluable for improving their connections with the students of traumatized parents. Unfortunately, this year’s training for teachers is being deferred due to a lack of funding.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Empowering Women Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) – The women have continued to save and do business and are now able to pay for necessities previously unaffordable. The groups have made three times more than the principal amount given to them, hence funds needed for economic growth are now circulating among the groups. Through training they have learned to expand their businesses by saving part of their profit. Bible Studies – The women continue to learn how to share their challenges, pray for one another and encourage each other in the Word of God. Tailoring – This second group of trainees are learning fast, because they are encouraged seeing the skills and progress of the ones ahead of them who are now training them. The graduated group of tailors are now making school uniforms for the students and making money. Agriculture – Through agriculture trailing, this year gave them a big harvest of sorghum and okra, which is a popular business item they sell in South Sudan.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Equipping Leaders Trauma Healing and Peace Building – This year we have seen a very vibrant group of leaders register for our 2-year Trauma Healing and Peace Building program. These educated leaders from different settlements have expressed interest in the training after they realized this specialized training is making a huge difference in their personal lives, families, and communities. These leaders are being transformed in their own lives as they’ve developed the ability to open up and learn how to deal with their own pain before they can help others in their communities. Community Impact – This program has been lauded by the Ugandan government, specifically, the Office of the Prime Minister, as peace and coexistence is now being experienced in the settlements where the leaders who have been trained reside. Many of them have testified that they are receiving healing through the training.</image:caption>

These students are receiving the robust education that they so deserve and would otherwise not receive. These students are learning how to read the bible for themselves, and have, in fact, been gifted by a generous donor their own copy of the New Testament. These students, through the PEACE Food Program, are now eating two meals daily and keeping healthy and strong. Dedicated, hard-working teachers, assistants and PEACE chaplain are consistently paid monthly to teach and mentor 700 students, all because you give to PEACE.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Empowering Women The 150 women in the program are excelling in their different areas of businesses because of you. The tailoring graduates are now making uniforms for the students and parents are purchasing them. Some of the women in business are able to pay school fees for their sons and daughters who are attending high schools. This level of education is a rare opportunity for South Sudanese refugees. Even though their businesses are flourishing in their refugee settlement, they are still limited and desperately need more support to expand. Fourteen (14) business women are determined to expand their businesses and they are willing to mentor other women.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Equipping Leaders The new class of Church Leaders is due to start their 2-year Trauma Healing/Peace and Reconciliation training beginning August 2022 because you have given towards this need! Displaced men, women and children are being utterly transformed because of your giving. Brotherly love among different tribes is evident because of this process that you are giving towards. More leaders want to be trained because of this life changing experience. There is now peaceful co-existence among the South Sudanese Dinka and the Ugandan host communities that did not exist before this training.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ministry Updates - Spring 2022 Ministry Update - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Educating Children Schools remained closed in Uganda for most of 2020 and 2021. However, the closure did not deter PEACE from teaching the children in their homes, through the Home Learning Program that was developed by the District Education Office in Adjumani. All learning institutions in Uganda, including PEACE, opened on Jan 10th and PEACE now has 672 students registered to attend school this term! We have 14 trained teachers, including the School Principal/Head Teacher and 3 Assistant Teachers. The Chaplain and Administrator are also part of the school staff of 19. In addition, we have 3 security personnel who guard the school day and night. Currently, our highest class is Grade 5 and we hope to begin construction soon on an additional block of two classrooms.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Empowering Women VSLA – 150 women are involved in the VSLA (Village Savings and Loans Associations). They save money and lend to themselves and others at an agreed interest. The first three groups who received money, an equivalent of $1,500, have returned the principal in 12 months and made a profit as well. A 4th group has now been given funds to trade with and invest. TAILORING – This has been a huge success for PEACE. The original group of 16 women have sharpened their skills and are currently making the school uniforms that are being purchased by the parents. Graduating the sewing program in December, they each raised 50% of the cost of their own sewing machines. AGRICULTURE – In January, 2021 PEACE launched a partnership with Flint Global to equip the women to increase household income through business and agriculture, as well as grow a passion and skill for agriculture in both the women and the PEACE students BIBLE STUDY– In addition to all that the women are accomplishing with their savings, tailoring and business and agricultural skills, they are continuing with ongoing group Bible studies each week.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Equipping Leaders As of the end of 2021, PEACE has trained a total of 80 church leaders from 7 refugee settlements. Graduation took place in December, when each one of the 40 leaders from the third and fourth classes received a certificate and a female goat. These Leaders will go out teaching and preaching, knowing that their families are taken care of when the goats begin to reproduce. It is changing the lives in many communities. Please keep praying for these leaders to multiply and affect their communities and beyond. The next class, God providing, will start in early 2022. The enthusiasm is high and we are being very keen on the character of those who are recruited.</image:caption>

<image:title>Who We Are - Supporting and empowering the refugees of war</image:title>
<image:caption>Decades of war in South Sudan have caused immense suffering, including millions of deaths, infrastructure destruction, and the highest rates of illiteracy and child mortality in the world. PEACE International seeks to end this cycle of violence and poverty through education and community empowerment. Founded by Rosemary Khamati in 2012, PEACE initially served 200 children. The outbreak of civil war in 2013 led to further devastation, with many refugees finding shelter in Northern Uganda, where PEACE now focuses its efforts primarily in the Olua 1 Settlement.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Who We Are - Rosemary’s Impact</image:title>
<image:caption>Working alongside Pastor Simon, a South Sudanese refugee, Rosemary operated with just two classrooms for over 200 children for three years. PEACE addressed the hidden scars of the civil war by introducing Trauma Healing and Peace Building training in 2015. Developing these leaders fostered dialogue between previously warring tribes and the message of healing and peace began to spread across the region.</image:caption>

<image:title>Who We Serve - Providing children with biblical education, trauma care and consistent meals</image:title>
<image:caption>Access to education is almost non-existent in many areas of South Sudan. Through the efforts of PEACE and your support, over 850 students receive a Christian education. Children from Pre-K through 7th grade are taught all academic subjects mandated by the Ministry of Education of Uganda, as well as trauma care and personal hygiene that helps prevent the spread of disease in their communities.</image:caption>

<image:title>Who We Serve - Equipping pastors with both biblical and trauma training</image:title>
<image:caption>The civil wars that have raged in South Sudan have caused generational division among many of the indigenous tribes. To achieve a sustainable peace, tribes will have to decide they are willing to work together. PEACE provides trauma and peace building training so leaders will be equipped to take this message to people of all tribes. The leaders commit to a 2-year Trauma Healing and Peace Building training program from which they graduate upon completion. Over 100 leaders have completed this training and even more are looking to take part.</image:caption>

<image:title>Who We Serve - Empowering women by providing skill + business training</image:title>
<image:caption>Poverty is an endless cycle when people become solely reliant on the charity of others. PEACE seeks to break that dependency cycle by training these women of South Sudan fundamental business, trade and agricultural skills empowering them to support their families. To date, over 150 women are excelling in this program and are starting to take control of providing for their needs.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The truth of the gospel can be difficult to discern in Uganda and surrounding countries, as cultural norms often blur what Jesus and the Bible truly teach. That is why, through quality pastoral care, we focus on bringing gospel truth to pastors across the region—equipping them to lead their churches with integrity, clarity, and confidence.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Women's Ministry - Empowering women to live a fulfilled, gospel-centered life.</image:title>
<image:caption>For many refugee women in Adjumani, life is extremely difficult. With husbands still in South Sudan—often with other families—they must provide for themselves and their children alone. That’s why we equip these women with business skills, entrepreneurship training, and biblical literacy, helping them build confidence and support their families. More than 200 women are already part of the program, with new participants joining every day.</image:caption>
