First Quarter 2025: A Season of Growth and Impact

Quarterly Report: January – March 2025

The first quarter of 2025 marked a season of tremendous progress and impact at Peace International. Through strategic planning, dedicated teamwork, and strong community collaboration, we reached several key milestones that are propelling us forward. Here's a detailed look at what we accomplished and experienced over the past three months.

Education Milestones

The new school year brought exciting developments:

  • January: PEACE Primary School received its official registration from the Ministry of Education and Sports—a major step forward in institutional growth. We also stocked up essential food supplies for our student feeding program, securing staples like maize, beans, rice, and cooking oil to last through the second term. A new head teacher was appointed, adding leadership strength to our academic team.

  • February: We enrolled a total of 793 students, with 598 in the Primary Section (285 boys, 313 girls) and 195 in Nursery (101 boys, 94 girls). We celebrated strong 2024 examination results, with 3 First Grades, 19 Second Grades, and 2 Third Grades.

  • March: Enrollment rose to 830 learners, all of whom participated in mid-term exams. Teaching and learning proceeded smoothly, complemented by weekly devotions for Primary 4 to Primary 7 students.

  • Held 9 debate sessions, enhancing learners' English skills, critical thinking, and public speaking.

  • Established 7 Healing Clubs, each led by two trained teachers, fostering emotional resilience and peer support.

Our school is now officially approved as an examination center by the Uganda National Examination Bureau. We are currently awaiting the issuance of our UNEB Centre Number.

Trauma Healing & Biblical Training

  • In February, 24 staff members completed Trauma Healing Training, equipping them to better support students coping with emotional challenges.

  • Teachers received Inductive Bible Study Training, focusing on the Observation, Interpretation, and Application (OIA) method—strengthening both their personal faith and classroom instruction.

Safety and Welfare Enhancements

  • Installed 4 fire extinguishers across campus.

  • Trained 8 staff in fire safety and 6 teachers in first aid.

  • Procured 2 first aid kits to ensure prompt medical response when needed.

Scholarships and Bursaries

We continue to invest in the future of vulnerable learners:

  • 22 students received bursaries:

    • St. Thomas Aquinas College: 10 boys

    • St. Andrews College: 7 boys

    • Adjumani Model Secondary School: 1 boy

    • Gulu Central High School: 1 boy

    • Mercy Beyond Borders is sponsoring 2 girls

Church Leadership Development

We conducted a follow-up training for 20 church leaders who previously graduated from our leadership program. The training focused on maintaining ministry effectiveness and expanding community impact.

Women’s Empowerment Initiatives

  • Formed 2 new Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), reaching 60 women with savings kits.

  • Existing groups continue to flourish through active saving cycles.

  • Five women trained in tailoring are now running income-generating businesses—proof of sustainable empowerment in action.

Agriculture & Development

  • Allocated 7 acres of fertile land to women’s groups for cultivation. With early planting and promising soil conditions, expectations are high for a bountiful harvest.

  • Completed the construction of four self-contained tukuls, initiated by our administrative teams in Nairobi and Adjumani. These units will serve as visitor accommodations, contributing to long-term sustainability.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

We hosted meetings for the District Education Technical Working Group (ETWG), fostering collaboration between NGOs, government departments, and education stakeholders. These sessions further established Peace International’s leadership role in community development.

Looking Ahead

This quarter has been marked by unwavering dedication to education, leadership development, and community transformation. We are grateful for the progress made and remain steadfast in our mission. With faith in God’s provision and your continued support, we look forward to building a sustainable, empowered future for all.
